Week 1 Recap

100% That Commish

Well we're off to a great start of the new season! In what will end up being a preview of the final week of the season, seven teams got off to a great start while the other half league now have a larger hill to climb to make it to the playoffs. In the biggest blowout of the weekend, All 2 Whales defeated Captain Morgan by 57.8 points. Not quite Le'Veon Bell vs Adrian Peterson levels of defeat, but close. All 2 Whales was lead to victory by 30+ points from both of their starting wide receivers, Stefon Diggs and A.J. Brown, while Captain Morgan was let down by RB Cam Akers and WR CeeDee Lamb. In another uneven victory, Dinkel 3.16 overcame SMILF by 37.2 points, relying on big games from QB Josh Allen and RB D'andre Swift and thanking the fantasy gods for poor performances from WR Brandon Aiyuk and the Green Bay defense on the other side of the field. For Team Pup-N-Suds, it was an easy victory over Fueled by Ayahuasca by 37.16 points. The preseason favorite got big games from QB Patrick Mahomes and RB Saquon Barkely to run over the defending champs' poor performing WR Mike Williams and RB Elijah Mitchell. Ginger Lightning beat Autodraft Bitches by 26.6 points, as is tradition. Balance scoring led by QB Kirk Cousins and RB Cordarelle Patterson was enough, but Ginger Lightning capitalized on a goose egg from TE Cole Kmet and 5 points from WR Hunter Renfrow as well. The Dictatorship took out Fowler's Heathens by 21.02 points, thanks in part to big performances from QB Russell Wilson and WR Justin Jefferson. Fowler's Heathens forgot to take injured WR Allen Lazard out of the starting lineup which didn't help their case. In their first game in the league, STL House Centipedes beat Houston Dinkel by 16.5 points, relying on TE Travis Kelce and QB Justin Fields to get the job done over underperforming TE David Njoku and and RB Dameon Pierce. Despite starting injured RB J.K. Dobbins, big games from QB Daniel Jones and WR Davante Adams, Car Ramrod still outdueled Leknid Lunatics by 13.5 points, due to poor showings from TE Hunter Henry and WR Adam Thielen.

On Blast!

We get it, it's still early in the season. Some people went with their initial draft picks for their lineup and forgot to change it. But it's still not a great look when someone forgets to change their lineup to account for injuries. Because of that fact, these teams are on blast this week!

Car Ramrod - RB J.K. Dobbins is still coming back from an ACL injury and wasn't available

Fowler's Heathens - WR Allen Lazard was doubtful early in the week before being scratched on game day

Studs & Duds

Stud - QB Patrick Mahomes with 49.9 points for Team Pup-N-Suds

Dud - WR Devonta Smith with 0 points for The Dictatorship, RB Cam Akers with 0 points for Captain Morgan, and TE Cole Kmet with 0 points for Autodraft Bitches

Waiver Wire Adds

Some people are looking to make some changes after Week 1. Here are a few suggestions, broken down by position.

QB - Cooper Rush

Look, this is really the only option out there in a 14 team superflex league. Despite reports that Dak Prescott will be able to avoid the 8 week IR list, he will be out for a few weeks. It's the Cooper Rush show in Dallas for the next few weeks, but if you need a quarterback, this is your only chance at a starter next week.

Honorable mention- Jimmy Garopollo. Unlikely to start, but after a poor start to the season from Trey Lance, some people may want to add and stash Jimmy G on the off chance the 49ers make a change at quarterback.

WR - Curtis Samuel, Robbie Anderson, Donovan Peoples-Jones

Curtis Samuel caught 8 passes for 55 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 and looked to be a popular target for new quarterback Carson Wentz. Robbie Anderson, despite offseason grumbling about his new quarterback, also benefited from a new pass thrower with 5 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. Donovan Peoples-Jones led the Browns in targets in Week 1 and could see increased looks moving forward as the locked-in WR2.

Honorable mention - DeAndre Carter. With Keenan Allen battling a hamstring injury, Carter was next man up and could be worth a look if Allen misses extended time.

RB - Dontrell Hilliard, Kenyan Drake, Zack Moss

Dontrell Hilliard is still the number two back behind Derrick Henry, but looks to have the passing-down back role set with two touchdown scores in Week 1. Kenyan Drake looks locked in as the RB1 in Baltimore for the short term future until J.K. Dobbins returns from injury. Zack Moss led the Bills backfield in touches and will continue to see work after a poor performance from rookie James Cook.

Honorable mention - Tyrion Davis-Price, Jordan Mason. Two backup running backs for the 49ers who could see some work with Elijah MItchell on the IR for the next 8 weeks.

TE - Gerald Everett, Hayden Hurst

Gerald Everett caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown in his Chargers debut. He will be a popular option against the Chiefs in Week 2. Hayden Hurst went 5-46 and was the second leading target for Joe Burrow in Week 1 and was looked at near the endzone during the overtime loss.

Honorable mention - O.J. Howard. Anytime a tight end grabs two touchdowns, it's worth taking a second look. But history doesn't favor a repeat performance and Howard may not be a long term answer for teams looking for a tight end.

Have a great Week 2!
